About the badness of existence and the prospect of extinction

In this paper I consider the case of people who find The Mere Addition Principle counterintuitive. Their particular intuitions may be understood as instances of The Principle of Intrinsic Disvalue of Existence (PIDA). Following this idea Contractualism seems to be an appropriate method to solve population ethics dilemmas. Still, I show that their rejection of The Mere Addition Principle – if understood as an instance of PIDA – is not enough to avoid these dilemmas and to reach a stable equilibrium among their intuitions. In questa tesi vengono analizzati i principali argomenti per risolvere i paradossi dell'etica della popolazione (dibattito di etica normativa). Gli argomenti vengono suddivisi in due stili rispondenti a regole diverse. Segue un'analisi sul piano metodologico dei due stili morali, presentati come due modi di intendere la ricerca rawlsiana di un equilibrio riflessivo. Darba mērķis, izvirzot personas identitātes problēmu, analizēt tās risinājuma iespējas naratīvās identitātes teorijas ietvaros. Darba uzdevumi raksturo personas identitātes problēmu Dereka Pārfita darbos, izvērtē Pola Rikēra naratīvās teorijas iespējas risināt šīs problēmas un pamatot sociālās aspekta nozīmi personas identitātes apliecināšanai. Naratīvs ir būtisks personas identitātes izpausmes resurss.
